Ryhmänäyttely ja kaksipäiväinen keskustelutilaisuus tutkivat, miten ymmärrämme ja esitämme fyysisyyttä ja todellisuuksia esineiden tekemisen kautta. Kokonaisuus esittelee Kuvataideakatemian opiskelijoiden kuvanveistollisia ideoita ja objekteja kansainvälisten taiteilijoiden rinnalla.

Näyttely tutkii luontevasti myös Kuvataideakatemian työtä: miten tulevaisuuden taiteilijoita ohjataan tutkimaan sitä, mitä voidaan tehdä kuvanveiston perinteiden taustaa vasten. Voimmeko yhä ajatella, että kuvanveiston identiteetti pohjautuu klassiseen ymmärrykseen muodosta tai kehosta tilassa? Miten teknologioiden rooli nykyaikaisissa maailman muotoiluissa monimutkaistaa asiaa?

Samalla kun näyttely tarkastelee kuvanveiston ideoita tekemisen kautta, kaksipäiväinen keskustelutilaisuus antaa tilaa laveammille, syvemmille ja oudommille keskusteluille kuvanveiston erilaisista muodoista. Englanniksi.

A two-day discussion event at the Uniarts Helsinki's Academy of Fine Arts. The event is hosted in ‘Dimensions Tomorrow’, an exhibition by students and invited international artists. While the exhibition explores how we understand and represent physical realities through making things, the discussion event allows for wider, deeper, stranger conversations about different states of sculpture. It begins with making, physicality and the things sculptors are interested in, moving outwards absorbing environment, ritual and public.

It aims to create an environment where artists and other practitioners can talk like they do amongst each other, so there will be coffee and some open-ended discussion that will form around presentations by our speakers
