Annu Timonen & Kerttu Malinen

We are two friends, two artists. Our works are created in dialogue, through a shared visual language. We construct the relationship between each other, our past and the world through moving image and audio. We find shared agency empowering, but it can also be a challenge. On the one hand, we are more daring in what we do when we work together, and often outdo ourselves. On the other hand, our collaboration can sometimes put a strain on our enduring friendship. For Kuvan Kevät, we have made a multi-channel video installation. Our work examines gravity, change and survival. We would like to thank all the people who have helped us, as well as everyone who will help us in the future.

The work comprises the artistic component of Annu Timonen’s Master’s Degree for the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of the Arts Helsinki, and the artistic component of Kerttu Malinen’s Master’s Degree for the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture.
