The film camera takes the viewer to the middle of the events like someone having a dream. The events experienced both in a film and in a dream are compressed in relation to our everyday experiences. Neither the dreamer nor the viewer can move freely and satisfy their needs through action; instead, both must be content to watch and find fulfilment in their minds.
In my work, I explore the dreamlike nature of films – the dream mode – through painting.
My paintings will be exhibited at the Project Room of the Exhibition Laboratory in Lönnrotinkatu in June 2017 after the conclusion of the Kuvan Kevät exhibition.
