how to _____ alone

Almost every day I go to my studio.
I practise rummaging through corners
and stickily pressing a body against a floor.
I imagine spectators in the room
and then make a phone call to my friend.

How to work alone, I wonder.
I haven’t worked alone before,
always with others.

My desire is a space with a shade of purple
and a ladder to climb.

Sensations, feelings,
thoughts are affecting a body,
a body starts to twist and turn

I repeat things.

Knock over the ladder.
Pick up the ladder.
Knock over the ladder.
