Certificate of Existence
I ordered an official document which was intended to prove that I exist. This “Certificate of Life” or the “Certificate of Existence” cost eight euros, and in addition to my personal details, it included the word “alive” and some official-looking stamps. Proving my own existence seemed absurd to me, but it was necessary for bureaucratic reasons. It made me think about the relationship between this piece of paper and myself and how a painting can be considered proof of existence.
