Ornaments are used for decoration and embellishment. There is something magical, yet also mundane about them, and if you take things too far, they will become tacky. Ornaments can bring things together and pull them apart. They have the pervasive ability to claim an object or a space as their own. Their structure is based on repetitiveness, and it follows some kind of universal logic. Consequently, an ornament can conceal things that are greater than their maker.
